how do i stop my front bumper on my saph from sagging?

ive done a search but couldnt realy find what i was looking for.

Hello mate,
Ive recently had my front bumper re-painted. Ive also got the sagg. I tried new brackets all round the bumper but no joy. the bottom part of the bumper is metal so can be straightened out, but as for middle/top, there plastic so the only thing is take it to a painter and they might be able to heat it back to shape.

 

I`ve noticed this alot and asked my self the same question, i`ve got a 2wd and mines is fine but a good mate of mine`s has it, i`ve noticed its mostly on the 4x4, i dont no if they have something else behind the bumper to sag it or maybe a bracket less, hope you get it sorted anyway, oh and let us no what causes it

 

I too have noticed this, all the bumpers have that horrid foam inside and i find that it holds alot of water. this is eventually the cause of sagging. When i replaced my bumper on my 4x4 with a new one i had them paint the inside too which sealed the inside and keeps the moisture out. I think this is the only way to prolong the life. Mind you i have seen some original bumpers that have no sagging at all so maybe they changed the material at some point

 

Belive it or not i managed to get some coated copper cable ... like what you get in 2.5 cable and managed to tie it from the inside of the bumper to the car it gave it a little lift.... i know it sounds like a cowboy job but it did work, this worked on the rear only....

 

The lil plastic clips and the piece that the bumper connects to that wear out and cause this. those two no longer sit right in the metal bracket that is atached to the fender. The front dosnt seem to sag to much, from my experience.

Bigger problem on them is the corner mounts breaking when the bumper is removed, or just from the owners abusing them somehow.
all the bumpers I have seen have had the bumpers foam painted over with a sealant.
