As they can't even get the cylinders to face the right way, expect trouble

no harder than a 4x4 cossie box really, its an londitudley mounted engine, less grief than a transverse 4x4 like an Evo etc

That sounds ok then.

I havent even looked underneath it yet.

Any decent online guide to doing it that anyone knows of?

Anything particuarly unusual i need to be aware of or is it all fairly obvious from looking?

(ie like on an F16 vauxhall box you can change the clutch without removing the box if you undo a square peg on the other end of the box, so any 'specific to scooby' info like that would be appreciated.)

He's just had a quote off a mate of ours for:
clutch + flywheel (you change both apparently, weirdo japs!)
cambelt
spark plugs

at 700 quid.

That actually doesnt sound too bad, think i will just tell him to do that as at least it will be back on the road soon.

A clutch for a Scooby. Sounds like a good swap

Think my mate paid about Ł700 for his clutch change on his 93 WRX

Box comes out in approx 1hr, expect the flywheel to need a skim- usually pitted to death.

pull type clutch, so you have to remove the clutch fork from the box whilst its still together

We can do one in approx 3hrs, box is held in with 2 bolts, and 2 nuts --- scary!

Rest is straightforward, rather leave the engine in, saves a lot of fuss!

good luck.

Rather do one on a scooby than an evo, pulsar, or escort rst!
