as long as you stay away from all the abused dogs out there and spend some decent money you will get a decent one , try and stay away from anything that is/had anything over 330hp as the transmission would have had a hard life.

the late ones have air-con and standard suspension/konis give a very good ride without being harsh.

I wouldnt worry about reliability as they are no worse than any other car out there.

excellent everyday car imo

id second that, u wont be using the turbo every second ur driving it, reliability is as u want it to be. Just keep them maintained oil change it every 4000miles it will only cost Ł25 odd.

they are fantastic comfortable road cars 4x4s are awesome too. treat it enthusiastically and it will treat you well. if u can afford to get a late one as the air con will be usefull!

I use mine everyday and to be honest it's a nightmare, breaks down all the time and costs a fortune to repair. BUT I think it's mostly 'cos I drive it very hard, so it's just the "consumables" it requires starts to include wishbones, driveshafts, bearings etc.

Drive it gentle and I'm sure it'll be reliable.

i use mine everyday (well apart from when its broken, which is pretty much all the time) to be honest thogh i think most of it is just a case of being unlucky, for example ordered a full set of samcos a day later blew a hose which in turn blew the head gasket (which i had replaced 3 months ago)

apart from that it has been fine.

p.s. not all late spec saffs have a/c

I have used Sapphires, 3 Doors and Escorts as daily transport. Get or build a good one, don't skimp on the up keep and they will serve you well. BTW: The Escort was a 500BHP+ one running T4, 8 injector RS500 set up etc, and it only let me down once with a faulty map sensor.

Why not try a closed loop conversion?

i use mine everyday and it lives outside, its a rite workhorse

and agree with what every1 says, you dont want a std one, too slow

just had NMS gunship conv on mine, loads better, 290bhp & 340lb tq

as for reliability, only had mine 2 months, just started a overfueliing prob which is down to a sensor, fingers crossed, only prob with it so far

ps mine is a 'cheap dog' as well

I have a works van home with me so i dont need it for that, even if i did i wouldnt take it to work as i work 9 out of 10 on building sites, my car is still used dailly and sits out in the rain everynight, it gets everysingle thing it needs and no cheap shite, its let me down a few times but my own fault, now that i`ve changed almost every part availible its reliable as a new car, even when i am 3rd gear opposite lock on the dual carriage way

who needs a garage when you can have more fun out in the rain
