The Reims blue one I thought were generally a little cheaper due to the colour (might be wrong!). The do crop up occasionally thought around the 10k / 11k mark on the MLR if people are about to trade them in and have been offered even less! A friend of mine was lucky to get a 1 owner from new Evo 7 with 19k on the clock for Ł10100!!!! Was a trade in where he works and the sales staff get offered them first!! Fooker!!!!

Evo all the way mate though

Didnt realise you knew the guy i bought it from!! He seemed well alright! Gutted I sold it now! (although i made a few quid!!)

Here she is! Apparantly the new owner has stacked it already!!

Sorry to all the jap fans ,,,BUT i went to buy a EVO 6 last week and was sssssssoooooo gutted at its performance ,, I was honestly 100% amazed just how slow it was ( it was 100% std tho ) i expected a lot more for 14k ,
The salesman said after the test drive when i went over to look at a impreza sti ( R ) special edition ,, I wouldnt even bother mate , if you arnt happy with the EVO then you wont be happy with that .
Everyone says jap cars are ssoo much better that cossies ,,,, well thats bollocks , a std saff will make you smile a lot more than any std jap car and hold its money better .
your problem is tho you wont get a escoss for 10k

they may make you smile more than a standard Evo but theres the age/reliability issue as well. I sold my escort cos mainly due to being worried about it leaving anyway but also knowing that its an old car and things break. Also everytime i gave it beans in it I was always watching the temp gauges etc etc just in case. With my Evo (was modded running the same hp as the escort) I could just get in it and once warm absolutely cain the hell out of it knowing it wont give me grief.

Its always going to be a biased opinion on a Ford forum but i know where my money would go!

Depends if you want a head turner, when I see a cossy of any model I turn to have a look , whereas if I see a EVO or Scooby I just carry on, they are a common as muck and although fast, they look very plastic IMO. But I suppose they should be a bit more reliable than a cossy, but if you get a well set up/mapped etc cossy it shouldn't give you to much grief

Why not get a good 3door for a bit of RWD fun

Paul - you can't be serious.

Pound for pound an EVO would leave an Escort Cossie standing in every single area.

It's twice the car the Escort is.................

If you are talking pound for pound then get yourself a GT4 ST205

Gearbox and trasnfer box and diffs that can take serious power from the factory and a good strong engine that is easy to tune.

Just loses out cause its not pretty like an escos!

You really think that???

Nismo R34 Z-Tune

FQ400

NSX-R

But yes, you are right, a standard saff would make me smile much more than these pieces of shit

Great advice, Fensport have been using the hardware from these for years. Very strong

Seriously though, the GT4 has got to be the most overlooked car out of the whole "rally slag" genre, they really are fantastic cars and no one even looks at them twice, the prices are SO much less than an escos and yet they are a far superior car in every respect except for possibly the ease with which simpletons like me can understand a cossie motor, but there are still lots of good tuning companies out there for the toyota lumps anyway (fensport being a good example), so anyone who pays someone else to work on their cossie anyway could do exactly the same with a GT4 just as easily, and parts are NOT as expensive as people make out in most instances, and anyway, escos bits (ie anything escos specific not that can be nicked from a saph) are pricey too now as so many of them are NLA

Fine i think you all aree giving great examples when comparing escort cossie to jap cars but please take into account the cost factor. Value for money. you can have a nice big turbo escort for between 10 - 15k than spend another 2k to make it a good stage 3 car, which can handle.

I wonder what a evo would cost to get it to the same power to weight ratio as a escos with the above spec.

Cheaper to build a reliable 450bhp GT4 than a reliable 450bhp escos, and thats even if you ignored the fact the GT4 is cheaper to buy as well!

The GT4 needs so little work to see that sort of power, where as the escos needs more or less a whole new drivetrain!

Yes ok for 330bhp the escos gets there easily, but any more than that is expensive if you want to use it hard and it still be reliable.

have just finshed reading both features!

i want that yellow one!

and the mad evo....so lush! but expensive for that stage of tune....top work by the man who built it tho!

i been looking at selling up my s2rs and saving up and wouldnt mind having around the 10k to spend!

What about a nice SUPRA?! ......bit expensive for everyday use tho! or honda accord?! perfect for everyday use and still 200+bhp

why do you have to beat your mate?!

Bit sad if ya ask me!

just get a nice car and be happy with yaself...dont compare to other people! there will always be someone faster/bigger/better! if thats how ya live life then unlucky!

But if ya have to beat a scoobie go skyline or evo! good luck finding a 350+bhp one for 10k tho! might be able to get an r32 gtr ............

Yes, all EVO's from the IV onwards.........even the new IX (just released in the UK) has the same 4,500 mile/6 month scheduled service intervals.........The GSR models with AYC (anti yaw control diffs) are a bit more expensive to service than the RS/GT types (non AYC models)....but still the same 4,500 intervals for the these.
