My passport application has been "lost" by the post or someone now it seems...

I need a passport by the end of the week! My old one ran out ages ago

Im sure ive been told you can go down Newport to the passport office and get a passport on the day (costs 100odd quid and takes all day tho).

Is that right? What needs doing?

I had the same problem.. I went to Peterborough and got it done there..

Took a few days if i remember rightly tho. Something like 3 days

Yes Steve you can go to Newport and wait for it to be done. A friend of mine had to do it 3 days before a holiday. Get there early and take something to read as she got there at 8am and got out at 4.30

They 1st booking for an "on-the-day" passport is Saturday, too late

Looks like only chance I got is praying the Passport arrives in the next few days, dont seem likely.

Bastard post office, looks like their fault, doesnt seem like the passport place ever feckin got the application

 

I used to work for the passport office so this is the way it happens.


You will not be allowed into ANY office without first phoneing. Ring the application helpline, they will then put you in touch with your local office...

What you have to do is go in as soon as that office opens and hope that somebody that has an appointment for that day doesnt turn up.

It will however cost you around £90 for a same day return passport.

THE ONLY PASSPORT THEY WILL GIVE YOU ON THE SAME DAY IS A RENEWEL.....IF YOU HAVE LOST YOUR PASSPORT OR IF IT IS DAMAGED IT WILL TAKE 7 DAYS NO MATTER IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT OR NOT!!!!

 

Re-reading your posts, from what im gathering isthe passport office have sent out your passport but it still hasnt arrived...

In that case you WILL NOT be travelling this week unless that passport arrives, as the passport office WILL NOT issue you another passport on the same day.
