Bet Doug could tell the difference between different types of wires and cables. Things like that are a very important part of an Install. I'm clueless though... just useless with sounds Renton sorts all my stuff out. He ordered and then installed my new Plamsa on Saturday. Its sooo cooool.

P.S it says 'well run in' surely you can't run in speaker wire?!?!?!?

St3v3 c, Renton got me a deal on it as we got 2 at the same time. It was supposed to be £3000 plus £200 for the bracket. Got it delivered for £2550 with a free bracket. Best one you can get I think. Pionner HD ready job. Digital tuner, PC card, all singing all dancing job. Just need a Hi def DVD player now... oh and I need Sky to actually start broadcasting Hi def TV Supposed to be sometime in the next year

Really pleased with it. Watched the Incredibles on it last night and wow! Prices are coming down all the time. You don't need to go as mad as I did to get a good one.

Here is a pic of it. looks better on my wall though

I don't know why anyone would buy one of these and then not put it on the wall

How did you get on with cabling? Hollow wall?

Steve, it's as Porkie says, it is possible to "hear" cables - i.e. identify their sonic "signature" or charactor

When you've got used to the sound of a particular cable (say one that you have been using for several months) and you then change the cable for a better quality one (i.e. one that sounds "cleaner"/more transparent), even the "inexperienced" listener would prob notice the difference and prefer the better quality cable. The real golden ear audiophiles can hear diffrences within seconds.......these are peeps that on average would spend 4 - 6 hours per day listining to Hi-Fi.......and have over the years heard LOTS of different systems.amps/speakers/cables etc. These peeps can justify spending thousands of £ on cables.

In a min on this thread I will post up an anolagy to the Cossie world that would put the above into perspective and make it easer to understand.

Meanwhile, look at these prices - the BEST cables in the world, available from Stirling Broadcast.......20% discount for all PF users :

I think you've printed the list with the wrong currency symbol - that's got to be Yen or something surely

The thing is Doug, if I had the money, I would probably spend it as well

I got Renton to buy all my cables and stuff and made him promise not to tell me how much it was because I hate spending money on things you can't see

The best comparison I can come up with is this (not very good but hopefully you get the picture):

Take someone who has just passed their driving test 2 months ago (say a 17 year old that has only ever driven a 1.3 KA - not driven ANY other car up to now)......

Put them in a Standard Cossie (220 BHP) and tell them to take it for a 10 minute drive, he would prob come back shaking, saying WOW their just sooo quick who could want more performance? Then put than into a Stage 1 Cossie (270 BHP) and IMO they would not notice the difference in the performance of the two cars......

But if you took to the owner of the Standard Cossie (who for arguements sake has owned and drivin it for 4 years/40k miles) and converted his car to a good Stage 1 conversion they would notice the difference immediately, the first time they press the throttle in 1st/2nd gear...............and even though the owner of the cossie might say "WOW thats plenty of power"..............within a few months they would have got very used to it..........Chances are (money permitting) they could easily justify a Stage 3 conversion, then Stage 4 and so on.........

The point being if you said to the man in the street (mr average driver with a 1.6 L Mondeo) that you really want Rod Tarry's Sierra engine (if it was for sale) and that your pay £ 25 K for it because the 500 BHP that you have is not enough - he would think that you were mad (pun not intended) LOL

Doug Stirling, cool, makes sense. As I said, in reality, I would probably pay the money as well
