Default metering head question! update. *ggrrr*

My fuel pump regulator on my metering head has gone tits up! wont let the car rev above 1.5k rpm so its unplugged at the moment! my question is......do i have to replace the whole metering unit or ca i just get away with replacing the sensor (black/grey) box thing on the side to replug the sensor into! (if that makes any sense)

Its actually more likely to be the fuel ecu (black box) itself than the reg.
Try someone elses first.
