4x4 Saff the best value, more or less same as Escos but £10K less.

gotta agree 4x4 saff is best for everyday car, I have had 2 and although I still have my Escos, I have always wanted another 4x4 saff, bigger, nicer to drive, more stealthy etc

Depends what you want form a car........ EsCos has much more road presence than a Sapph', but has essentially the same mechanicals underneath and two extra doors.

Horses for courses, and depends on your own personal circumstances - I've owned or driven all variants, and for me......well I'm on my second Escort.....

I have a 2wd cossy and I want to go for big power but I am not sure I have the right platform to start with. I not into the presence thing even though I agree there is nothing quite like an escort in your rear view mirror. I was just wondering about the chassis and how they cope with the power and wich is more enjoyable to drive

Yeah but look at how much money has been spent on that car, would of been easier to buy a ferrari or something. Honestly no one really care's he's cracked 200mph................

Just an opinion!

PS Spence, sorry mate she's being primed for fun!!! Track action only!!

I'd rather spend the dosh on the handling!!

Lots of people care that he has done 200mph actually.

I've spent a huge amount on cossies as well.... not saying its right or wrong. Your friend just asked if a 2wd saff is upto taking the power and I was trying to answer the question.

Real answer is that all Cossies need huge amounts spent on them for big power. Is it worth it??? for a road car, I would say NO FOOKING WAY!!! but thats just my opinion.

Lee,

But thats about all that do care, if you forgot mags like PF/FF none of the others seem interested in it...........sorry not out for a row, but as you've said you wouldnt spend all that money on a road car.

Spencer is my fiancee's cousin..........thats why i know what he's going on about, etc

Oh and by the way Spen if you & Grant spend the same amount of money........He'll smash both of us in his Liner!

Ok Jase we beg to differ on this one.

I think by Rod doing what he has done forces people to keep developing our old designs and that can only make thing better for us. Of course I am not in that league but at least I got something to aim for.

Yes your motor is fun and definatly turn peoples heads but do I spend 10k on that or 10k making my 2wd better.

Anyway you don't have your brother with his skyline rubbing it you face every time you look out the window

Escort M8
Ive had loads of comments about the looks of mine, (aggressive / hard as fu*k ect)

Never had anything like that with any of my saffs (both 2wd & 4x4)

Got to say they do look the dogs danglies but my advice would be to get yourself a go of each and decide for yourself

im not comparing what rod has spent to the price of a ferrari.

What im saying is £ for £ rods is cheap compared to a supercar.

Were comparing saph to escort, not rods to ferrari's

back on topic

and your right franco i wouldnt either, but im still doing it

It doesn't matter which one you get - your wallet will start having an intimate relationship with one of these either way!!!

me & the missis have a 3 door, 4x4 saff & an escos, the 4x4 saff is by far the best all round car, the 3 door has the most road presence & is the most fun, the escos is like a package of both.

Only thing that justifies the extra 10 grand for an escos is the looks, so unless you care what it looks like in a big way then go for a saph really IMHO

If you are going past "stage 3" then rwd is a lot cheaper than 4wd in terms of the transmission.

Hmm, weird that you say that about the escos having less presensce than the 3 door, ive always viewed it the other way round really!

(and thats not me being anti 3 door, as they are my favourite of the 3)

His brothers just got a R33 le man spec..............so he's got a right bee in his bonnet!!

You should have seen him when i was building my ZVH fiesta........we were constantly ribbing him!

Think your not paying 10k for the looks as much Chip, its the whole feeling surrounding escorts, then of course there's the resale value! got to be better than a saff.

Spen, just buy either a esc or a RS500...........all the bits will be there on the 500!

I take it your brother's Skybus is quite heavily modded?

Get him to take the Skybus on tight twisty track and then turn the tables, because in a straight line or on the strip, you haven't got a chance .
