Default * Removal of Windows Messenger *

I see a lot of people signing onto msn (no pic) and then off and back in again a few seconds later (with pic)

This seems to me that quite a few people still have Windows Messenger installed as well as the MSN one.

To remove Windows Messenger, do the following:

[Start Menu]

[Run]

then copy and paste the following line into there

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

This will remove it and should ask you to restart your machine.

Hope this helps a few people lol

removng Windows messenger will cause some MSN messenger options not to work anymore (such as remote assistance for instance.)

It SHOULD NOT be removed as it's an essential background component for MSN messenger.

Do it at your own risk

You should close it down properly before installing a new messenger, then you won't have said problem either.
