Default lower ball joint boot

I've been told by ford my o/s/f/ lower ball joint boot is split. They have said as the car has a polybushed front end they can'f fix it ??

Is this an easy job to do myself and what parts will I need ?

I've looked on microcat and cant see a lower ball joint. Can somebody tell me what else it might be known as.

Cheers

Steve

do you mean track control arms ball joint? if so, job is easy, but you should check the wheel alignment after you changed that. you need new control arm, and possibly bushes, if old ones are worn out. it might be wise to change both arms at same time.

as Hectori, it's probably the ball joint on the end of the tca where it joins the hub. the ball joint is not replaceable by itself, you need to replace the whole tca. there are 2 types of tca, 2wd, or 4x4, and the ball joints are different. be aware, that some 2wd cars use the 4x4 part though!

check first to see if it's just the boot that's split, or if the ball joint is actually worn as well....
If the joint is still ok and it's just the boot, go to the motor factors and buy the cheapest balljoint they've got with a boot of similar size (IIRC i used a mk2 Cavalier one) and just use the boot - it will be way cheaper than the arm, and won't all need to be taken off to do

Cheers for that. Sounds a good way of doing it. I beleive its just the rubber thats split so will go for that option.
