Default RS500 Intercooler Help

First off, Thanks to Rapid-Ford for the good customer service and the very fast delivery. Mucho appreciated...

Anyway,

Ive been told that when i fit the RS500 (style) intercooler into my escort cosworth that the fueling has got to be adjusted because there is going to be more air getting in and the car will run lean, is this true?. So I phoned graham goode and asked him could they re-program the chip for me to accomadate the intercooler as its going to run lean and he said that i dont need to fit the intercooler and that it shouldnt run lean...

I know i dont NEED to fit it, but i want to

So,

Will the car run lean with the bigger intercooler?

all an intercooler does is cool the pressurised air from the turbocharger - it does not induce more air in itself.

you may see a slight increase of 1 or 2 psi at full boost, this is due to the charge been a lot cooler due to the more efficient cooler - if this worries you, adjust the actuator to compensate this marginal increase to what it was running before you fitted the hoooge intercooler.

i just fitted one to my 3 dr yesterday but not had time to have a go yet to see the diffrence i cant wait. and i have only heard that slight setting up is required to the fueling when you fit one. same as when you change anything like cam exhaust etc.

Your the man...

Tony's real advise would be

"give me 5k and i will fit you a proper intercooler and map it on an rs500 intercooler then make you keep going back for more bollox"
