Fords no longer stock the mk3 windscreen rubber

Is the mk4 exactly the same?

D'ya think any car glass place will stock them? i.e. RAC Auto Windscreens etc...?

 

billywilly, i think the Mk4 is the same chap

dont see why a windscreen fitter wont be able to get one

 

they may not stock them but they can definately get hold of them IIRC the mk3 & 4 are the same

AJ Escos, Was told by my local Fords this morning that they aint held locally. He even said he done a nationwide search and no one has a mk3 rubber.

Will give the mk4 one a go.

Bill - as I said the other day we (Autoglass) don't have one in my branch and it's not a stocked item, but we can get them, as I have had to fit new ones before and they have been ordered in for the job.

We use 4 digit codes for car identification (for example, 3552 is the code for a mk4/5 Fiesta) and both the mk3 and mk4 Escorts are the same, code for them is 3544 (IIRC). Every bot of glass is the same (except for the mk3's available with opening rear quarters, and mk4 rear screens available with radio antenna), the only difference is the colour (clear/bronze for mk3, clear/green for mk4) as are the rubbers for all glass too

unfortunately yours aint as easy to renew as screen is bonded

 

As Jim well knows since I put one in his 4i for him not so long ago

Jim - I can get you near identical trim for your screen - it's basically the same shape and size, but not as thick and without the two ridge lines running through it, but I can get you it for free if you need as we have bundles of it on the roll (it's just universal trim) but since I am leaving in a couple of weeks I sharnt be able to remove and refit your screen for you pal

hi billy...as far as im aware ford will be able to get one in for you as when i enquired they had to order one in for me...but i didnt get it as i cleaned my old one...

i have to go Ford tomo morning so i can find out for you if you need me to?
