Driving up the M1 yesterday and pulled in at Woodall services to get some gas and saw a pristine Olympic blue mk1 RS2 (my personal all time fav mk1 RS2 colour scheme). I was going to go over and have a chat but as I came out from paying for my gas he drove off and it sounded gorgeous on twin carbs. All afternoon I was thinking about how nice it was then yesterday evening I pulled in at Woodall again to get a drink and there was a mint mk2 RS2 custom in venetian red (again my personal fav colour) parked in the car park. All I have been thinking about since is that I want an old school RS. So here is a question for those who are up on the mk1/2 market - What sort of price would a really nice/mint RS2000 command these days?

Anything from about Ł4-5k for a good one mate.........I know Eddie Gaskell has turned down Ł10k for his almost concourse Java green Mk2....so it depends how good you want it....!!!!!!

 

i want 1 aswell cam there the bollox always regret selling my mk1 and boy do i need another

 

i think you will find a mint one fetching closer to 6-7k !! very average ones are more like 4-5k these days

 

i would say thats about right,and going to 10k+ for a concorse
the prices have gone mad in the last few years more so for the rs versions, theres a big demand for these cars but just be carefull coz theres a lot of bodged shitters out there you can pick the none rs cars up a bit cheaper there is a nice mk1 in yellow on oldskoolford at the monent he only wants 2.5k for and it lots of tax and test, looks sweet altho its only a 1300x flow

Nothings changed as I remember when I was looking for my RS2 back in the mid 80's and looking at over 30 cars before finding a really good one. That mission made me realise that the term mint was open to varied interpretations lol. I nearly came to blows with this guy in Hull who described his car as mint/never welded but he had failed to mention that though it hadnt been welded it needed new floor pans and boot floor!
