Default Hot starting

Starts when cold and runs well, when warm it won't start.
Pain in the ass having to bump it off the petrol station forecourt, any ideas or pointers ?

on the starter motros u have a small(brown i think) wire concted to it by a lil plastic push on plug!

cut that plug on & attach a nice new ring connector! then put thta over the connection on the starter motor & screw a nut on to it to hold it on!

walla!

No mate try getting hold of a starter motor heat shield you will find heat from the exhaust reflects on the starter causing it to get hot,so it would go in your favour!

If u need to buy a new motor get 1 from a xr2!

its about 1/2 the size which takes it miles away form the zorst!

the heat shields r absolute bollox! did fook all on mine!

i fitted the xr2 starter & it was exclelent!

Hmmm decisions decisions, gonna plump for the bigger ampage battery first me thinks as it won't hot start on it's own, but if i jump it then it does.

Which one would be the best buy the starter or the heat shield. Can you still buy both new from Ford. Found a part number 1644016 Ł14.47 for the heat shield but changing the starter for a new one now saves me doing it later if necessary

Cheers

before my car died, i NEVER used to suffer from this problem without a heatshield, i think it largely depends on the car

also i have a spare starter motor if you wanna part with some cash

Managed to find this starter for Ł14

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...sPageName=WD1V

If it is the correct one then i'm sure a few peeps could get in on it as the guy seems to have a few.

Cheers

When my S1 starter started to loose it when hot (bumping it of the petrol station forecourt sounds very familiar or having to wait 15 min), I swapped it for a recon Escort 1.8D starter and no problem ever since.
