Default 2001 Foucs 1.6 Zetec - Double Din???

Wondering if someone could give me a bit of advice.

Ive just got a 2001 focus zetec and want to remove the existing head unit and stick a nice new dvd moniter/reviever in there.

Now originally i was looking at putting a whole new facia panel on and fitting a single din motorised screen and reciever in there.

Since then though, ive come across the Kenwood DDX-7025 which is a double din screen with a slide down panel revealing the dvd player. I reckon whisll be better coz i cant help expect the motorised moniters will be a bit flimsy.

Heres my question though...will this double din moniter fit straight into the slot already in the facia panel of my focus? I have a feeling the slot is double din and it will, but dont want to waste the money if ill have to do major surgery on a new facia.

Thanks in advance guys and girls

Cheers

Richard

Sorry to be bearer of bad news but the Focus dash as standard is 1.8 din. It can be modified to accept a double din hu but takes some work.

Thanks for the reply. Typical, why cant they keep it simple?

Would you mind just telling me what the din actually stands for. What does the 1.8, single and double din mean in terms of measurments.

Also, what would it take to modify the slot to fit a double din unit? Would i be better off settling for a motorised screen and a new facia?

Thanks again

Richard

I have the said unit and have fitted it to my RS - it took a total of 3 hours and some minimal chopping of the dash and surround - I will say however that I could not fit the case that holds the unit as this does require some serious modification but it does look the nuts!
