just off too.....
Try n sort a bloody petrol leak! garage had the tank out to do a spot of welding on a chassis leg and it's been leaking ever since from the hose that goes from tank to pump, it's leaking on the tank side, dunno if it's the tank or the hose tho, will soon find out! fingers crossed it's jus the hose
could a ring clip if over tightened bend the O it goes over on the tank into an oval 0 ?
fingers crossed it'll be able to sort or else my car wont make the strathclyde RS show this sunday!

Fook me with my old S2 this was one of the worst problems I experienced. I wnet through 3 brand new petrol pipes from Ford. I though't my tank was cracked, it was leaking at the tank end of the hose that comes from the tank to the pump, absoloute nightmare, and it was strange because it happend like overnight for no reason!
Well in the end mine was diagnosed to a shitty aftermarket petrol cap sum nobber had put on the car (I should have removed it anyway) but thanks to Christain for pointing it out that it could be why
Anyway, the standard item alows the tank to breath air in air out (apparently) this one wern't and the pressure was too much for the tank and it kept takin a piss.
And everytime I removed this crap fuel cap the pressure it let off was mega, so though't it may have been that, anyway standard item went on and all was fine. Luckly the tank didn't implode or anything serious.
It did however cost me about 20 quid in optimax and burn/stain my skin and went in my face / eyes which was fuckin not nice I can tell ya!
Oh the joy's of RS ownership
Live n learn

lol, mates now commin down at 3 to help me!
the hose may be perrished as its 18yr old, but i noticed the jubilee clip tightens, loosens, tightens also when im under it in an awkward position, hose needs to be pushed on a bit further too bit need to move the pump forward a tad to do so unless i get a new hose n make it a few mm longer.
the cap i got is std and when i release it theirs no hissing or nought! cheeRS tho, bet u kicked ureself when christian told u that

Well yea, especially when I had a spare standard cap at home, pmsl, I could have saved myself a lot of grief but there we go, na u should be ok mate! sounds like u say the pipe has just perished over the years! Well, for the sake of it I would by a new one, if they are the same as the s2 pipe I can get u finis, and they are not that exspensive, bout £7 odd I think
P.S it should push all the way on without moving the pump.

yea it should, but i think the tank has been mounted a few mm further forward when the guy had it out, so instead of moving tank, jus 2 bolts to move pump a few mm
if i do need a new hose i'l prob jus go to my local motor factors and get them to give me one a few mm longer, mate sais they do em and are jus as good as ford ones but unless i want to be a concourse bufty i shuld get a ford one
cheeRS Adam i'll report bk later how i get on
if the car dont fall on me
