Default piston rings on a moped?

alrite people wird one but me mates ped needs new piston rings ( im ment to be buying it ) are they hard to fit or is it simple as takin off the bolts off to get to the piston, taking off the old ring ( dont no how many there are and dose it have to go on a certain way? ) then compressing it / them and putting it back together?

Not a big job on most 2 strokes mate, but depends if the barell is scored or gone oval etc.

If it has then you need it rebored and a larger piston and new rings.

Ive got away with just rings before though.

Id want to knock at LEAST a couple of hundred quid off the asking price though if i were you, it isnt a 5 mins job for you to fix it (cue some smart arse with a 4 mins ring change record on a scrambler, lol)

got it down to £500 hes buying the rings , already got a 70cc kit on it and hasnt been riden with bad rings coz he got a car so should be just rings, dose ride fine just smokey

PS how long did the last rings last?

If it wen very soon i would suspect an excessive piston to bore clearance possibly when the 70kit was done, in which case you may need a new barell

rings are good 5,000 + miles on them maby more, had a new piston barell and rings when the convertion was done by A4 scooter

im not asking what they should be good for, im asking how long his last set actually lasted.

no thats wat i meen they have been in there for about 5k they need changed ever 6k avrage but it dose have a 70 kit so this makes in shorter
