if anyone could help me, im starting this project on a 89' escort xr3i and my main question are:

-Compression ratio (maching the head, etc)
-Connection with gearbox (stock clutch or not)
-What blocks (mondeo, escort, focus and years of manuf. all pref without mods water pumps, sumps etc)

-other things you think of....

 

youd ideally want the escort 1800 mate as the sump and oil pick up are right for it,the head will then go on fine with a standard ford cvh gasket,gearbox fits fine as far as im aware,tha clutch is ok also,the flywheel bolt holes need to be slightly oversized though IIRC, water pump needs to be swapped with an adaptor plate(Mad For It do a conversion kit i think)
