I very seriously doubt it..........

But the way i figure it, they get decent brakes under 13" Minilites for Old Skool Escorts and Minis and stuff, so someone must have something that'll stop my wee XR and not cost the same as Chip's ten-pots, as I'm aiming for 500 ish quid.

But keep the suggestions coming

Good pads, discs, braided hoses and use Dot 5.1 and thats all you'll need.

I'm using Tar.Ox Monza discs, Ferodo DS2000 pads, Goodridge braided hoses, brand new calipers and Dot 5.1 fluid, stops very well.

My mate used to run a lesser spec that what I use on his track XR2 (around 150bhp and stripped out) and stopped great.

Kad 4 pots you might just about manage for 500 quid mate

Used on a mini with a 7.9" disk under 10" wheels, or on a larger disk under 12 or 13" wheels.

Same people that make the 10 pots and 6 pots used on a lot of minis too.

I used to have a set, billet works of art mate, you wont want to fit them to the car, lol

I wouldn't have said it if It couldn't be done now would I

Actually there may be the tinyest amount of filing needed on some calipers in the top and bottom corner - but its safe to do and wont take long with a soft disc in a grinder.
