In houses not in cars, lol
How do these work?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...982083090&rd=1
Does the "big box" go outside, the "little box" go inside, and it connect through the wall using pipes (connected to those brass tap looking thingies)???
It looks similar to the one we have at work, but that one (at work) appears to be connected to each other, like one unit...?

The big rascal goes outside and the wee rascal goes inside.
if you do buy make sure your drainage from the inside box is of a good quality or you will end up with a sprinkler in your lounge.

And they connect using relatively thin tubing? (drill through wall, poke tubing/piping through, seal with summat) rather than have large bore piping through wall, right?
I am just pondering one for my room, as it is the ONLY room in the house that gets the sun from dusk till dawn (3 walls basically constantly getting sunsoaked, and even at 1am it is still over 30deg in here - don't help I have the hotwater pipes under me floor boards and the boiler on the otherside of the 4th wall either
)
Don't really want one of them portable ones cos it means you have to have the window open several inches to have the tube hanging out - trouble with that is again cos of my window location, if it rains, is 99.9% of the time comes in my window if it is open

You shouls have a drain tray for the inside unit, you are best off getting a piece of hosing where the water comes out and piping that outside because you will only forget to empty the tray and get a wet bonce in the middle of tackling Briana Banks

Ahhhhhhhhh! so THATS what that length of garden hose is for on the unit at work
The smaller, portable ones with the exhuast hose/trunking ones are a lot cheaper, but I don't want to be leaving my bottom window open all the time to use it

That looks suspiciously like my cat in your avatar
Decided I can't afford air con
Looking at about an average of 12p an hour, which sound cheap, but then consider it'll be on for 12-14hrs of the day (£1.70 per day) everyday (£50 a month / £600 a year
)
Guess I shall just have to suffer

Is that the time you spend in that room in a day?
We installed a split unit (from B&Q) in the bedroom last night as the portable one packed up, and that was BLISSSSSSSS.... 18degres all night.... so nice
