Whey i went to get my Orion 2day , its a 1.6 GHIA. I had 2 get it from Surry, it took me 3 hours 2 get there. As you can guess i got it off E-bay, and payed 46 whole english pounds for it. Got it home at 2 0'clock and started striping it.
I am only 18 so i need lots of support, also i plan 2 do all the work myself (if you havent gathered i am making it a 3 door).
I think is a bargain what you think, this is as i got it.






And this is when i started to strip it.









So wat ya think not bad or rank? This will be a slow to start project but once i get going i will be ok so stck with me

btw orions are 4 door not 5

 

All i have had chance 2 do 2day is take the headlights, indicators and old alarm off.
I cut the alarm wires off the battery and it started so then i just cut the lot out and it wouldent start, so i had 2 trace every wire back and check the lot. Only took me about 3 parts of an hour 2 find it thow




Found 2 v-small holes

also u do u know the work involved in doing this???? cuting off door post, removeing doors, cutting of rear quarter pannel & refitting 2 door escort parts.

there is allot of work involved in doing it proper! (as my mate half built another orion 2 door & then scrapped it)

 

Ye i no it is hard work but my old man is a shit hot welder and i ant bad myself also i used to do body repair and my dad still does (amongst other things)

I WOULDN`T DO THE TWO DOOR THING! AS STATED B4 ALOT OF MESSING FITTING 2DOORS OF A 3DR AND RE-FABRICATING THE REAR END ... A VERY LOT OF WORK FOR A YOUNG LAD , AND 4 MONTHS DOWN THE LINE YOU WILL GET RID COZ YOUR BORED .....

I was a Orion owner untill i part X it and now my mate owns it, its now got a 2.1 Zetec 16v in it running 48mm throttle bodies, also it was in fast ford some time ago

the only problem about turning a 5 door into a 3 door is if some wee b4astard puts a brick through your back window you could have major hastle replacing it

 

All i have had chance to do this weekend is to, remove the spoiler, rear badges, black plastic number plate surround and give the front pannel a quick wire brush off.
As i said this is a slow to start project so stick with me.

I have done a little bit 2 the orion 2nite. and when i got the grinder to the tops of the wings i found this .

The dredded filler looks like i have found out y it is so good, its already full of filler (well the wings anyway).
This is what i have done 2nite.



No hole . I have done the small hole on the nearside wing.



Just started on the small bits do a bit more to them 2morrow an put it up.

 

dont worry about the wings ... get the doors ripped off n get the biggest part over with.

 

RS ORION - Ye will do, i no a lad who has just wrote off his S2 (woonder). I av gotta go and cut the posts and panels off it the weekend so it will start to come along soon.
Havent done anything to it 2nite cuz of rain.

 

i've always fancied doing one of these why do you have to weld in the escort door posts thought it was just a case of cutting and re-welding in the original ones further back to suit the escort doors..........................obviously a bit more to it than 1st meets the eye

 

yogurt, I have been looking at pics n when you cut the post of a 3 door try n get most of the rear 1/4 as the rear side windows are identicle to what are used in 2 door orions

 

you have 2 use escort pillers because the 3 door doors and the 5 door doors are a different shape. At the rear of the front doors it is flat on 5 doors on 3 doors it has a shape to it. Also it will look much better when you open the doors if yo use propper pillers.

 

Not done anything again 2day gonna get the main bit done before i spend laodz a time an money on it.
