Default timing belt

can anyone tell me at what mileage the timing belt should be changed on a 4x4 saphire ?

60 000 miles, or 5 years.

I have only done 4000 miles on my cam belt but it was changed 8 years ago do you think its worth changing????????????

do they have a shelf life

no chance i would leave it on for that long , changed mine every year and the tensioner every 2nd time.

you would be suprised once you have it off and inspected it

not worth the risk IMO

you must renew it. it is always dangerous when going over the change intervals.

and when you havent runned the engine for long time, something like a year, the belt could just snap. you should run the engine to normal temp, preferably atleast once a month to keep things in good condition.

when driving very little, i would adwise to do the same as swerv does.

most genuine ford belts you now get are a ford box with a gates belt in.
