i have a 4x4 loom on an escort turbo, the car runs sweet , but occasionally the revs will rise, and my brakes feel very solid , almost zero pedal, then if i turn it off , wont start again until bump started , i cant actually start the car with the key , has anyone got any idea at all what this could possibly be as im ready to pull my hair out .
please help guys .
ok i left the car for 30 minutes then tried to start it up , wouldnt start , so i pressed the acc pedal and put it in reverse , tried again and she slowly started , sounded like misfiring, but as soon as i pressed in the clutch she was revving at 3k and again the brakes were solid, is this servo related ?
please help guys .

reving for no reason is often the sign of an air leak.
they way to check the servo is (with the engine off) to pump the pedal 4 or 5 times and then hold the pedal down, then start the car (tricky for you to do) the pedal will sink a wee bit but if it keeps going down then you have a problem
good luck

ok well i tried that and guess what , it doesnt go down all the way , only a little , but as ive said in another thread, when the revs rise and sit there the brakes are rock solid, i think its best if i replace the servo unit and then see what happens. whatever it is , its intermittent , and gets worse 90% of the time when the engines warmed up
