Default what would cause??

was cruising at about 30 in the 4x4, and then had no power at all!!the car was still running but pressing the throttle did nothing.car stalled when it eventually stopped.then when trying to restart would start then stop again straight away!!fuel pump was running ok.then after arranging a push home(just round the corner)decided to try it one last time and it started as if nothing was wrong!?!?
