Default FAO cosworth specialists !!

When getting my mongoose zorst fitted this weekend the spanner monkey noted that the "harvey splice joint " his words not mine,was worn,it's the little bit at the front of where the propshaft connects to the box,can i buy this one bit or do i need the whole first piece of the prop ????

Do you mean the rubber donut.

these can now be bought in neoprene rubber,like what the uprated bushes are made from.

when i had my 4x4 and the rubber donut had started to perish i was told they can be bought for the escort cossie but the 1 for the 4x4 is different and they dont make them 1s as yet but the 1 off an escort cossie will fit if the prop is changed but then u need to change something else to make that fit but this is all wot i was told sorry if i am wrong at all but this why i am a car delivery driver and not a mechanic lol

Tbh m8 im new to cossie ownership,it's not rubber its metal at the very front of where the small piece of prop meets the gearbox. Its like a knuckle joint ??

i think u mean the short front prop i had to have that replaced as well lol come to think of it wot didnt i have to have replaced wot a shitter it was lol i think you can have the prop overhauled at a place called reco prop in luton the number is 01582480959

well no coz i gave mine to a bloke who races cossies and he just gave me one of his and sent mine off to be done he just charged me Ł50 i think and he fitted it aswell but he is a mate and he gets alot done at a time so he might get good discount

As above I think you are refering to the front prop (between gearbox and front diff) It has 2 Universal Joints one at the gearbox end the other at the diff end

If the "knuckles" are worn you will get play.. If this is the case you need to get it sorted ASAP, there was a thread about these a bit back if they collapse completely at high speed it could take the floor and your feet out............

a brand new ford one is about Ł220+ vat, not cheap, but not a bad investment.

I have seen 1 of the small front props snap at speed..... burst thru the floor and smash the drivers ankle/foot!!!!!

And 1 snap and take the geerbox and sump with it..

Get it changed ASAP or at least get someone who knows what they are looking for check it over
