Default £2000 bet

I have a bet with someone that has a scooby, he's chipping it and a few other things but the engine is not coming out not even the head, so I was wondering what the most bhp he could get without uprating the internals. I'm just checking to make sure I haven't made a mistake.

all the "normal" turbo models have cast pistons which is very limiting, sti etc can go further though.

What model impreza is it & what car have you got?
Cos if you've got a stock cossie & he's got a wrx or an sti - he'll eat you alive & spit ya out the exhaust!

have you made a bet for a race??? might be a big mistake as ive just bought my first impreza which is 255bhp and it would piss on my previous 2 cosworths(stg1+3) and my 350bhp skyline r32 gtr up to 125mph and the handling is about 10 times better than a cossie and about twice as good as a skyline gtr...i just wish i had bought one years ago

wouldnt like to call it.... sti has the strong internals and probaly good for 350/360bhp mods before engine has to come out.

Scoobies are totally over rated, My mates WRX is slower than my S2 in a straight line once rolling

Seen several RR days when cars with the PPP haven't made close to the claimed power outputs

I had a play today with a WRX today, a K Reg one with large exhaust. I was in the Focus RS (showing my mated who just took me out in his ferrari 360) and i had to keep backing off. Not got a clue what power it was but he was trying and i certainly wasn't impressed, if the road wasn't so twisty i probably could of got past him.

Arn't the Sti's a lot quicker though?

IIRC you can get 400 not too much probs on std internals with the right bits and bobs.

You should still be ok tho.

LOL @ pgtips. They are the easiest drivers to upset as the really do believe they have the best and fastest cars on the road. Their faces are a picture as they are left trailing behind an old Ford You can imagine the excuses being dished out to the mail order girlfriend in the passenger seat

gotta love the forever on going scooby v cossie debates. considering a YB has technology at least 10 years older than any impreza out there i think a cossie owner can be proud no matter what!

we had a brand new impreza sti type uk thing at work a couple of weeks back. had a "holly clarke" conversion done on it, not sure what it involved but it was supposed to be running 365bhp and capable of sub 4 second 0-60. off the line it was totally awesome but get it past 90 and it just became lifeless, things were bleeping and flashing, traction control was in and out, the brakes were shocking and the understeer on it was worrying!

as for the interior at least my saph has the excuse of being 15yrs older than it for having a great slab of plastic in front of the driver. whats subarus reason?!?!

Good Luck if you've got 2 grand riding on it!

might be a big mistake as ive just bought my first impreza which is 255bhp and it would piss on my previous 2 cosworths(stg1+3) and my 350bhp skyline r32 gtr up to 125mph

think you have to learn to get off the line a bit better(in a Cossie)as a stage1 or 3 Cossie WILL kill a 255bhp Scooby n e day of the week.

your money's WELL safe.

My stage one killed my 240 scoob once rolling and my stage 3 saw it off even more. As said above 1st, 2nd gear it felt really good but once into 3rd was gutless.

Thats why my cos stayed and scoob went just wish i could get round corners now as quick

Jap spec sti's they seem to be the ones to have very good above 300 hp on all accounts.

Very good all round car for the money though you cant fault them

Well you was driving a car that understeered bady, had bad brakes, traction control, slow past 90 even with 365bhp, and was tuned by someone called holly clarke.

You sure you was driving a brand new STi scooby as it fucking well dont sound like it

Another thing.

For a fairly low priced (For what you get) car, a STi scooby interior is pretty cool

my stage 3 saff has been timed 0 to 60 in 4.8 which is rwd on standard gearing
and i'm not exactly the best driver in the world but since then have done a lot
of 1/4 mile run's so will be hoping to beat that this year as am now getting the
hang of getting it of the line
i have driven plenty of scooby's and although a couple have impressed me of the
line to me they seem to die once in third gear

my last car was a stg 3 sapphire and i can honestly say this car would beat it to 60,100 and 125... the type ra's are geting on for 7500rpm at 125 mph in top so you dont want to be over 90 for long and the best speed for motorway cruising is at 65-70mph (4500rpm)....i chose the car because in the real world most driving is done below 125mph and has corners

Most do UK, jap spec wrx ones etc apart from thr P1, STI's

M8 had a P1 and a couple more had a V5 and V6 sSTI type r's and you could really tell the difference with them, the P1 had an awseome 5th gear what pulled so well.

a 255bhp scoobhy being faster than a stg 3 cozzy i would be seriously questioning the stg 3 bit as that is quite simply not possible
scooby255bhp v coz 330bhp, the scooby wont win in a million years

i couldnt give a monkeys how the gearing is and i aint blinkered as my brother has a prodrive one, a few of my mates have been timed and 4.43 was the best from a stg 3 coz, i would love to see a scooby with 255bhp 'PISS' on that time, it is bollocks, i would say that his stg 3 was never puttin out stg 3 power
