Default dip stick is very lose? not good?

hey to all you turbo fans.
on my 86 rs turbo the dipstick is very lose (you can move the tube to the left and right about 8 inches).
i assume that it shouldnt be like this but i cant see any way of tightening it?
any help would be greatfully recieved.

Just make sure it's fully pushed into the block, as if you check your oil, it may show it to be low, when infact it may be the correct level due to the fact the dipstick not going all the way to the bottom of the block.
