What makes the Engine 500bhp instant? (heard that from someone dont know if its true?)

I know it has extra 4 Injectors and T4 Turbo but surely that cant produce that much power?

 

I think it needs a little more work than just wiring up injectors, but I,m sure some people on here who have built 500bhp engines will tell you whats needed,

 

Just like to get as much infomation about the Engine because I will be building one next year. Would like to know where to get the RS-500 spec from etc etc....

 

A budget of Ł10K will get you off to a good start!

 

I would say forget about RS500 spec and just go for a 500bhp engine build using 200 block as base. I have seen an advert in fast ford last month with 500bhp 8 injector enginges from Ł7k, but have never looked into it myself.

 

The 500 part refers to the amount of cars built for motorsport homologation and not to power output.

 

If you have an RS500 then you can get 500hp for around Ł5k as you have some of the parts already.

If you are building one from scratch then there are many different ways to go about it , the figure mentioned above of Ł10k sounds about right for a top notch build.

 

A 500 doesn't have JUST 8 injectors and a t4 to make it special, the heads are different(bigger ports), blocks different, i/cooler, throttle body and plenum(flows loads more) . so as you can see with just these few bits the money will soon add up

as for 500bhp........i can't afford the petrol in my 400bhp engine.so good luck

 

Technology has moved on since the RS 500 touring car days and you no longer need 8 injector set-ups to get 500+ bhp, look at the scandinavians nowadays, they are building cars based on the 200 block, running 4 injectors and huge T6 turbo's that kick out in excess of 600 horses
