Anyone hired a MIG welder ?
Like from www.hss.com ?
Do they hire it out to anyone ? i.e someone with no experience with welding i.e ME
Also, is this MIG welder ok for welding steel on cars ? In the search bit, enter 55113
I need to hire one anyway as my uncle is gonna do the actual welding for me but i thought i would get it for the week and have a play around, trying out welding for myself.

they do hire them to anyone with proof of ID, a utility bill and cash
however, its far far better to spend some money and go buy yourself one - make sure you get a good one and be prepared to spend a few quid - get one with fan assisted cooling as the cheepo ones trip out all the time due to themal fuse going berserk

I bought a Clarke 151TE from http://www.thewelderswarehouse.com/ a couple of weeks ago. I've not quite perfected my technique yet (read: I'm shit at welding) but it's good fun

I've got myself a 151TE welder too, had no major problems with it just the reg valve wouldn't wind down far to let more gas out,

becoming good at welding takes a lot of practise,i learned from years of banger racing.best advice is buy a quality welder and use good gas such as argoshield, also practise on scrap metal not your car
