Default Mates turbo, weilding

Ok this ones average condition, looks nice enough but its not been that well looked after. Its just failed its MOT and the passengers sill needs weilding, he was told that once you start weilding the process never ends and they constantly need more and more of it. If this isnt the case then its all good but hes wandering if h should just cut his losses and brake it, what u think guys?

Well... depends on how good the guy welding it is i suppose.
If you go in the Restorations forum and read about all the S2's that's been restored and welded. Its just a matter of getting the job done right the first time imo

I would imagine, if the cars not very well looked after, its gonna have more rust hidden somewhere, and will probably now need welding for every MOT in the future. But.... on the other hand the rest of the car could be solid, someone would really have to check it over to see if the work is worth doing. If not then as ya said julz's, break it and sell all the bits.

been there, done that! as people say, once its gone in one area, it usually points out that other areas will be near the end of theyre life. BUT there is a chance that the car was scraped underneath (or similar) and allowed water/salt/shit to get at the metal and rust it. ive seen 1998 plate mondeos need wleding on the sills, only because theyve been hit underneath and corroded. it doesnt allways mean the end of the world like some say.

just take a serious look at the rest of the car.

BOTTOM LINE IS THE CAR IS MADE OF STEEL AND WILL RUST. Just weld it up, make it safe, and continue having fun with it!

why not just weld it up and sell it as a complete car with mot and tax its a lot of hassle getting rid of all the bits when breaking especially if its just standard
