I use a CVH 34 cam and a vernier pulley. I set it up with a cam protractor and dti as per the instructions that came with the cam kit. Apparently they do run with a standard pulley. From memory mine's set close to zero. There's a good guide to setting up in the front of the Burton Power catalogue and you can get one of those by calling Burton Power.
