Your exhaust to pop and blow flames (without a flamer kit )

Mines NEVER done it since i had the car, but last night it was doing it LOADS........

 

to much fuel on over-run or the timing is out

but then again, you drive it so soft that all the fuel never gets burnt anyways

 

overfulling i think?? mine does it alot

Must admit it does stink of petrol Just thought it was down to the petrol leak I had the other day

 

banging it off the limiter

 

I was well away from the limiter well think I was my rev counter dont work

 

kim all cossies flame when giving it large, its cause the zorst has got soo hot the unburnt fuel ignights in the zorst and i stead of the black puff of smoke its now a flame

if ya car over fuels ya will get larger flames, before i had a MSD chip i used to have 4 foot flames come out when giving it some , now there about 1 to 2 foot but theres almost ALWAYS flames in the exhaust

i wouldnt worry tbh unless there really big, cossie flame, if they dont its black smoke

 

in that case fueling

altho mine popped and banged coming into work the other day and they all heard it in the office as someone was leaving and they were doing a formal presentation

 

yeah banging it off the limiter makes loads of fuel fly out adn the ignition cuts adn jsut dumps the fuel in still anyway

 

Its NEVER done it before that was the only thing that worried me a bit......I luv it, esp when people are sat on my arse end

kyms got more blue smoke than anything tho

 

go to a MOT station and check the CO levels then incase its over fueling

im asssuming ya got a MSD chip, if so the CO should not be over 3.5%, if its a ahmed chip expect it anywhere from 5% to 9%

also means ya gotta keep setting the CO before and after the MOT

 

Paul, I aint got THAT much.....

 

Chances are the manifold problem would have affected it all the times its been loose as you would have had an air leak!!! Worth getting it down to stus and getting it checked when u get the chance.

 

Ye its an MSD chip......my fellas an MOT tester so no probs there

Well if ur stu can check the emissions get him to do it!!! If he's adjusted the fuel presure/CO or anything when the manifold was loose it might be too high now!!

 

We never touched anything on it, but will get him to check it later on

 

my car had 6.8% CO when it went for its mot last week still passed tho

 

Mine was about 6% bless it

 

mines less that 3.5%

 

fook no's wat mine is.........

 

Could be the inlet manifold fooked.


Mine was and it was popping flames etc....and popping noises quit a lot.


Ended up being the inlet gasket had a big gap in it.

Well all the nuts were loose had them tightened up, it's been doing it since then, fook it im past caring

 

good point dave, if the manifold was loose the gasket could have been damaged or caked in some crap!!!!!!! Should really have had a new 1 put in before it was tightend up so worth geting aswell!

get a cometic inlet gasket, this will be a lot better than a standard paper type one.

think these are about £25.
