My trackday beastie
Three years in the making and now I'm a Ford man through and through.Who'd want a Radical when you could have a 4X4 ??(Don't answer that)Everything is modified and the next thing is a 24V engine swap,Coilovers and a better roll cage.Hope you like them

What trackday companies do you tend to use ?Are there many "ford" days coming up ?The reason I ask is that I've never seen more than two or three fords on circuit at any one time and getting fed up with Golf owners taking the pisch with all the predictable comments. At least I can shut most of them up on the track

I need reliability and this has argued both ways many times before so I won't start it off again but my preference is NA rather FI.Takes all sorts but there you are.I know of a 24v lump that is used for circuit use only and produces a reliable 300 bhp and about 320 lb/ft of the good stuff..................anyway a Turbo's too obvious
i know brian long races a 24v 2dr XR4i.

Id prob stick with non turbo as ive yet to see a turbo 24v thats as quick as they claim, and a 24v on throttle bodies or carbs would sound mental!
1080kg is fookin good for std panels! Id deffo be going for fibreglass boot, bonnet, and doors, can get em for most sierras but duno bout doors for that shape one.
I presume its perspex windows all round barring the windscreen?

Went for polycarbonate from Airedale Race Components.Very light and a little bit tougher.I'll need some fibreglass panels when I change the roll cage later this year. The extra weight of the cage amendments need to be offset by the lighter panels.I quite fancy going for the Thundersaloon look just to upset a few more of those that would prefer not to see the blue oval at trackdays.Snobbery is alive and well at trackdays.
Thats what puts me off trackdays, sooo many people up their own arses, take it all far too serious.
Thundersaloon would be quality, but the 13" wide rims to fill the arches would cost a good wack, but if they were nice soft slicks then fuckme wouldnt it grip, lol
People being snobs about driving somthing they look down on would just encourage me to kick their arses even more, and make the car look as piss poor as possible jus to really rub it in.
Cars like yours, they Reyland metro, etc etc, thats the perfect trackday car, as for me the enjoyment of a trackday would be generaly having fun, and ESPECIALLY winding up the trackday snobby vetrans
Nice work mate

There's nothing more satisfying than screamin' past someone who cannot drive their 355 or Caterham.Obviously if these boys could drive I wouldn't get near them but it always seems to be the snobs who couldn't drive there way out a parking space.Trackdays are there to be enjoyed by ANYONE regardless of how much cash they've got in their bank.I could genuinely afford something much quicker but I love my car as a project and something that you very rarely see on track.I'll keep it regardless and just continue to modify it over the next few years.
A multi-point welded rollcage,Dunlop DJ01 tyres, a further 100kg weight loss(me or the car?),24v engine swap,Cosworth brakes and coilovers and I reckon I'm about done.Then I can go a huntin'
If I could put up with the noise I could probably get it through an MOT as it is.Now that would be fun trying to insure that.I can picture the 'phone call.
"Has the car been modified in any way ?"..............."Er......................"
