no, some car do not have a reg that u can use on another car. usually happens after your car has had a private plate, or possibly if its on its first plate?

 

It just means you cant take that number off and put it onto anything else

Surprised they bother on a N plate, but this will be the number given by DVLA when a previous private plate was transferred off the car.

Imagine having an old car with, say, a three letter three number registration. If you transfer that plate off to another car DVLA give you an age-related number to keep your car on the road. Without this rule you would have a never ending supply of potentially desirable numbers!

As stated above, there's nothing to stop you putting aother private plate on.
