Over here the Sapph is more expensive to insure than the Escos. Is it the same in the UK that the Sapph is classed in more expensive/extreme group?

According to my insurance broker it was considered a extreme car and classed like a Ferrari. I could actually insure a MB SL55 AMG for about the same money as my Sapph, its just insane.

 

When I changed my insurance from my Sapphire to my Escort I had to pay an extra £125. That was with Boncaster (ex Dominion) who are quite reasonable.
