Anyone know why Ford fitted an 8-Valve engine when everything else is 16V?

What sort of economy are you getting ot of yours. Wife does long runs and sees 38 mpg which is worse than 125bhp Polo GTI she had.

But I never used to drive that heap of junk. Cant get me out of the Ka!

 

they used the 8v valve due to space and struggled to put the 16v version in. As for fuel economy, it will get better. i believe at set miles i.e. 6000 miles the ecu will change its parameters and the characteristics of the engine will change. We do it on cars so that the engine can bed in better.
