Mk 3 xr3i refurb
Hello all
i bought what appeared to be a pretty tidy 1983, y reg XR3i last May and have had a great time sorting out the mechanics of it in the past year...now got full ticket and drives well in all ways (except gearbox getting noisey).
I kind of got round to thinking about ripping the interior out a week ago, so have stripped it out, only to find the battery tray fairly well gone and some pretty rough repairs where the front arches meet the footwell, the odd small hole where the servo mounts are, and it is bodged where the front arches meet the side panel, about 6" in front of where the speakers go.Needs sorting on both sides as there is a slight amount of rust on the inner wing above the fusebox as well, letting water into drivers footwell.
The rest of the floor is perfect but the bulkhead is either a full replace job or build up from sheet metal as I go.
I think the car is worth saving and nowhere near as ambitious as some on here, but I was wondering, does anyone have any photos of how the front floorpan to arch joint should look from the inside and outside. I would guess that a full bulkhead job is pretty major. Any photos of similar rebuilds and ways of approacing it are appreciated.
I know it's only a 3i, but I don't see that many MK3s any more and it has got to be saved!
Thanks in advance, photos to follow...
