You would have liked the three I saw at the weekend in the country here.
2 harmless huntsmen spiders but over 4" from end of leg to end of lef. Not a nice site with a body about the size of a 2p. Then a white tail, my first sighting. All my google research had paid off and I was able to identify the black body with small white diamond on the tail. They give a poisonus bite and was about the size of 1p.
Maybe your one was a pet once as not much survives like that in the UK due to the climate and diet.

I know the one you are on about though. Think it was some David Attenborough show I saw once. Bit of a nasty sight. Huntsmen look shocking but are harmless. G/f's parents have a place in the country and they are everywhere along with several poisnous snakes so I am constantly on the look out things!Trouble is, its the ones you dont see that do the harm!
