What questions would you ask when buying an Escort Cosworth?
I've been looking to buy an Escort Cosworth for over a year now, but I still can't find the right one. Seen an advert recently, that could be promising, unfortunately the advert only gives the following details:
FSH, S/R, S/S exhaust, A/C, Good condition, No modifications.
The car is not too far from me, but I'm obviously going to phone up about it first.
What questions would YOU ask over the phone?
All suggestions please, including the obvious.
Thanks

after having a std car, then spending a shed load on mods on my evo 6 - i personally would rather buy another escos with stg 3 already done - my esocs had a manky exhaust and phase 0 chip butotherwise std - i set a budget of 1200 quid to put right the tatty bits - up to 3K now
doh! and most oif that is one upgrade bits or replacement std bits of trim etc.
I brought a totally standard 1, i looked at 15 others most modified 1s were sheds dented smokey and generally tatty. i travelled 4 5hrs 2 look at 1 4 Ł16000 and it had 11 dents and a crease in the roof alone the bloke said it was mint he'd owned it from new, in the end i brought mine from a garage. plus got a great service and a warranty.

and the other question - are you happy with a book full of ford main dealer stamps?!?! i know i'm not - all it means is that its been there - not that its ever had anything done there - wipe the oil filter clean and fill it up with some pissy thin oil and say theyv doen this that and the other and then charge a fortune.
id much rather see a specialist stamp or an enthusiast who has done all the work themselves - with bills to prove everything.

Totally agree ford stamps mean nothing nowadays. take sum m8s with you 2 look at any car and crawl all over it even better if your m8s are in the essential trades of mechanics and bodywork. also mite pay 2 have an independant inspection 2.
