Default Any estate agents on here?

Just wanted to know if what is happening to us at the moment is the correct course of events as it feels very much like me and the missus are getting fooked about...

Basically we put an offer in on a property a few weeks ago and it was accepted.

Then we found out it was a reposession and the offer had to be advertised in the local paper for a week, (they advertised what offer we had put in, £120k) if no-one had offered higher, the place was ours.

On the 7th day someone else offered more than us, which the estate agent said he couldn't disclose (even though ours had been put in the paper).

We then offered more than the other people, and the bank selling the house decided to stop a bidding war by making it sealed bids only giving us a deadline of today at 4pm.

We put our highest offer in and were told we would find out today after 4pm what was happening.

Guess what, nothing

The estate agent has now told us that the bank is the cause of the hold up, but I can't see why opening 2 letters, seeing which is the highest, phoning both people and saying yes/no has to go to someone else, surely the estate agent can do this?

It seems a lot of hassle for fuck all, and they don't seem to want to help first tmie buyers....

Any thoughts?

Think they can do this atm - bit like guzzuping, fookers

If Labour get back in though, this should change from 2007 with the new Housing Bill taking effect the whole property purchase experience should become smoother (in England and Wales anyway).

Wes just typical holiday weekend fever...everyone wants away early, and things get left till Tuesday.

Try not to let it spoil your weekend M8, kick back relax, and with a bit of luck on Tuesday you'll have good news failing that then it wasnt the right house for ya!

Best of luck M8

Sealed bids are an easy way for an agent to skank you. I take it the bids were not opened in front of you/solicitor or bank? If not, you do not know that the agent is not a pal of the other purchaser, saw your bid and then out bid you by £500.
