1. These are Focus Zetec 2000+ spec rods. They are only compatible with a 2.0 ZVH, if you also buy suitable pistons. I've chosen this setup and it fits fine into a 94 2.0 Mondeo block. I'm guessing your looking at Eagle rods - nice bit of kit.

2. Off the shelf: Crower, Esslinger, Zetec Central. I had mine made to my spec from Arias (2.1 - 7.8:1). JE Pistons can also do this work.

3. A Mondeo 2.0l Zetec from Mk1 or Mk2. It doesn't matter which, I expect a shagged Mk1 would be cheapest.

4. Probably - either way this isn't the right base block to use.

Don't buy any pistons until you know the block will be OK at the standard bore!
Dont buy any shells until you know the crankshaft journal sizes!
Weld the CVH head to take the Focus multi-layer gasket.
Buy an EFI injection and start saving for some better management if you want the best results.
Weigh your pistons and rods - match the heaviest to the lightest to get the assembled weights as equal as possible.

Good luck mate!

Correct - later spec rods are longer. You cannot use them with early spec pistons - they will ram into the cylinder head.

You need the correct, later spec pistons (Zetec Central for example) - or get some made to your spec as I have done.

Arias pistons cost about 600 quid with pins. I used Total-Seal rings and had the pistons made to fit them.

I'm using Eagle forged rods. I had Arias make the pistons so the pin fits with a perfect sliding fit to the Eagle bronze bushed little ends. From memory the little end i.d. was 19mm.

I used King bearings in the build.

My pistons are 13cc dished. I have no issues with valve clearance on a standard EFI cam and 45mm intake valves.

Hi fredy!

On-ujah probably meant "Focus Central" and not zetec. They do some cheap forged pistons for the newer zetec rods. If I remember correctly, the length of the Eagle rods don't match the old or the new zetec but are something in the between.

Yeah thats the one - Focus Central.

Eagle rods are 5.483".

There are also early spec rods available but they cost much more. The Eagle kit is a bargain!
