Yet another series 1 question...
The screen is the right size etc Bronze tint and will do the job I want it to..
Didn't expect the metal strips top and bottom.. I've never seen them like this.
Guess I'll use a top stripe to hid the top one.. will need one anyway as I won't have any sun visors. The bottom one won't be that bad once the rubber is on as its close to the bottom.

Mate asked you at the service station if it was okay and you agreed it was fine but i dont blame you as this is the only picture i had of it from the guy who i had bought it from ebay previously. I did though already advise that i wasnt sure which car it was from and i did try to offer you a refund bcos i couldnt get it posted but still managed to come most of the way up the m25. If you are still not happy with it then all i can say is i will try to compromise with you on how much you think its worth and settle the difference as i dont want you to think ive done a shifty on you.
A 'normal' heated screen has the up and down elements in the glass it self, if you look at it at the right angle you can see them, with the connection points either side, a single male spade on each.
that screen you have looks like it is using a system similar to the rear screen, the 'stick on' element that heats and will gradually spread up the screen. It is probably something that you can buy from a good motor factors TBH and stuck on. All it will do is quicken up the defrost/demist untill the heater gets hot enough to take over.
wiring should be fairly easy, couple of relays, time delay switch?
The BEST way if you want a heated screen is to get one of a 90 spec MK4, then search the scrappies to find a car with all the wiring

Scott R, The screen does have the up and down elements like a normal heated screen. The elements are in the laminate aswell not stuck on. I just can't understand why its put main elements so low down in the screen.
AKRS1, To be fair you where prepared to post this to me knowing that I didn't know about the larger strips. When I said it was ok I thought I was paying £36 for it not £51 as the you offered it to me for £20 so I assumed because you had made the mistake of not being able to post it out for £15 you where prepared to meet me at the cost of what I won the auction for.. put instead you claimed you done £15 in petrol (over fueling??
) and seemed to get funny about it.
I'm not convinced its worth anyway near the £51 I paid and if I'd had put that screen in an auction with the picture I'd used above I doubt it will get fuck all... I think you know this..

Over fueling in a 200bhp s2? i dont think so. I done nearly just 60 miles altogether so may yes i probably out done you by about £2. Paul i also saved you from paying me again
the only i can do is give you £15 back the difference between the £36 and £51. Let me know
Okay Paul thats fine i dont want problems between us as i may want to buy stuff of you in the future. Will refund the £15 so it should be in your paypal account soon
D :
Never heard of a heated windscreen in MK3 Escort/Orion series.
MK4 was first Escort/Orion that had one I believe, also bronze tinting was something typically mk3. MK4 was all green, maybe Orion Ghia had bronze tinting.
The MK4 windscreen heating looked different though, is without the elements in the picture so much. Maybe this was a special series by an aftermarket windscreen manufacturer.
Eg the tinted MK3 windscreen originally had no blue/green band at the top, but you can still buy them.
Cheers
