IB5 gearbox info, mod for highway use
Hey! I drive a Focus MK1 1.6 estate right now (MY2003), but looking to buy a newer MK2 model soon with the same engine and body. I really like my current car, only problem with it (apart from it's age) is that it revs quite high at highway speeds. As far as I know, the Focus MK1 and MK2 1.6 models are really similar technically so I started thinking if I could make the gearing in my new car a bit taller since I drive on the highway most of the time.
Does anyone know, where could I source reliable information on ratios in different IB5 gearboxes? It would be nice if I could find a gearbox with taller gearing and just swap it in. Other options would be modifying the final drive, or change only the 5th gear (as I was told that this is possible on this gearbox with relative ease).
