Fiesta mk7 into a mk5
Hi peeps,
Im looking for some advice. I have a mk5 fiesta 1600zetec fwd hot rod. I’m looking at putting the fiesta mk7 1600 engine in. I know people will be saying it’s not worth it ect ect But this is a track car and we can only use 1600cc engines with limited engine specs and with the 1600 se engines getting harder to find now we want to change things up. So with the mk7 1600 being near 120bhp and the mk5 at 103bhp we are looking at doing something different. I know that the gearbox on the mk7 is cabled and want to put a mk5 gearbox on as it’s better for ratios for different tracks is easier for us as we know what diff and ratios we are using. The wiring is not an issue as we run cut down wiring looms anyway and most of the auxiliaries are taken off. Are all the shafts the same that will go into the mk5 hubs ect. Engine mounts not a problem as we can make them. Is there anything that we need to change or modify to get a nice fit. Any information or suggestions would really be appreciated as this is something that we want to do to be different and bring the formula forward.
cheers

Are you aware 1.6 Zetec-S(E) with 120 bhp is a TI-VCT engine??? Look out for a ~100 bhp one (Puma, Focus MK1, Fiesta MK6 / 02-08). Even with a pair of camshafts and a good engine management and setup a normal 1.6 will put out much more power than a standard TI-VCT one.

yes I know that it’s 120bhp. But we are only limited to what we can do mate. We are not allowed to run camshafts or do any mods to the engine. All
we can do is run a air filter and advance the timing that’s it.
so we are looking at running something different instead of the standard 1.6 zetec se 103bhp engines.
so looking into seeing if the mk7 would fit into the mk5 with the wiring loom. But I think it’s going to be abit of a pain to do due to the canbus pcm modules ect
