Hi everyone,
weird one really i;m in the market for a mk2 FRS. Anyway seen one advertised that's down as a cat d write off.
After doing my own hpi and carvertical report it shows as a cat b. but the vehicle has had a vic check etc.
Does this mean its been reshelled? how is it still on the road if shell should have been crushed

Not really sure how it works these days tbh but i no people who have repaired cars were it states not aloud on road again and there repair them get it vosa checked and its away on road so its a massive gray area.. but most focus rs cars that are crashed badly will be put on another shell or a st shell with quaters changed etc
I thought there was only cat N and S now. None Structural and Structural. My ST was made a cat N after some silly twat hit the bumper in Asda. I got the pay out got the car back and repaired it.
My T250 was Cat B but reshelled had no problems at all Just speak to DVLA before you buy it . Ask them if there are any discrepancies that will stop you changing log book over OR getting an MOT. Then the usual checks ie are the Police interested in it ? if not then away you go! That T250 WAS the mintest straightest Focus chassis i have come across!
My current Focus Rs mk1 was also reshelled but wasnt cat b - however it does have a different chassis number ie starts with SABT not the usual WX. Again though with T250 that had normal chassis numbers. I dunno mate just do some thorough checks - the thing is - these CAts are always easy to buy hard to sell . bear that in mind before handing money over. If YOU are happy though then you go for it
