Default Lift pump for fuel swirl pot

Hi,

I have a twin fuel pump setup in my XR2 Zetec Turbo.

It's got a facet red top feeding a swirl pot then the high pressure pump is a Bosch 205 pump (replacement for the old 941).

When It went for mapping at MSD they hit a restriction in the fuel system when upping the boost so left it at 8psi - 218bhp.

I'm thinking the restriction could be my lift pump not flowing enough?

Can anyone advise on this and recommend a higher flowing lift pump.

Aiming for around 300-350bhp

Cheers

Lift pump? You're talking about the pump that fills the swirl pot from the fuel tank? At MSD they should be able to tell you what caused the problems?

First of all: are the hoses connected to the swirl pot as they should? High pressure fuel pump - low pressure fuel pump - return from engine - return to main fuel tank (from bottom to top).
The Bosch fuel pump should deliver enough fuel but what about the injectors?
And MSD also should know which pumps (or at least feed rate and pressure) are suitable for your setup.

You'd need more information.

What exactly do they mean they hit a restriction ? Is fuel pressure stable ? Some other problem ? Was the swirl pot running dry ?

There should be no need to "think" what the problem is, diagnose it with evidence.

So the car was left with them for a day to be setup and it was leaning out when they tried pushing it past 8 psi boost.
They mapped it safely upto this point and advised that it pointed towards a fuel restriction but didn't investigate it further themselves. ( I'd travelled from Scotland so couldn't leave it any longer).

It's running Siemens Deka 630cc injectors, ofam ECU, 8mm fuel feed, 6mm return.

Spoke to Stu on Friday and he confirmed the pump supplying the swirl pot should be able to supply the same if not more that the other pump so I'll relocate the pump and fit the spare Bosch 941 I have and see how it performs.

What about the fittings on the installation, are they the full bore type?
