hi there people. my second ecu burnt out in three years just before last christmas, it took the auto electrician six months to come out twice he said in the begining he didnt come out as far as where i live but as he is a petrol head. i thought i found the original fault three years back, i spoke with autodynamix at newton abbot there sierra cosworth gods. they recomended a new engine wireing loom. they made it i fitted it i waited for the sparky to come back. he didnt want to try starting it as he couldnt find what ecu pin the fault was related to. the burnt ecu got sent to a specaialist. they said it was from the boost circuit and repaired the unit. he couldnt find anything wrong with the boost circuit. so we are certain it must of been the loom or the poor way the clifford alarm was wired to one of the signal wires for the fuel injection which he says is a big no no. so the my saff is now running again. after testing the new loom all seems good. i did make a bit of a cock up the saff wouldnt start it was popping back through the exhaust ticking over really badly. after realising the dizi fireing oorder is 1342 but when the plug leads go on to the plugs its 1234 from the timming end not 1342. there were other issues with the loom bits missing some relays wasnt there. as i have two L6 ecu units now with two stage one chips im not sure what chip to go with. i have the original chip the car was mapped with thirty years ago its a performance systems the boost and the fueling comes in with a fair old bang. but the motor sport development chip that i got a couple of years ago is a lot smoother. stuart did say this would be the case as programing have come along way since then. but the the saff was originally mapped with the performance systems one. just got to put the car back together properly and mot

Hi Ray, good to hear that you are making positive progress with your Saff. If I was you I would probably stick with the chip from MSD. Get the car properly set up on a rolling road and enjoy driving it!!

I tested my EUC that came with a swap kit for "crank but no start" with your information. After verifying all good grounds, constant 12v, and switched 12v, my EUC failed to pull the constant 12v to ground, allowing the relay to receive a negative signal and switch the relay on and provide power to the other side for boot up.
