I’ve used one on a 3dr and the front arches went ok as there quite soft but it will move the arch and highly likely to crack the paint and the rears it didn’t touch as there double skinned and very hard.
I’ve just had a repaint done on my 500 and got the painter to do it the old Skool way 😎
Heat may help. I didnt use heat as the car was being painted anyway. Regards the pros using the arch roller I expect they do but I cant see it working on the rears from experience as you have the inner and the outer arch spot welded together and makes them really hard to roll.
I done the front on my sapphire after I went over a pothole while turning, it caught the edge of the tyre and pulled the arch down, I heated it up quite a bit then used it to massage it back a little, not to much as it still has the plastic inner arches.
The rolled arches blend in and are not really noticeable.
Hi Mark I have the same arch rolling tool to do the arches on my Son,s Subaru Impreza track day car but I have'nt used it yet so not sure how it will work. My front and rear arches were rolled a long time ago as mine is 35mm lower than standard and was essential to avoid any contact between the tyres and arches. They were done the old school way as I don't think there were any tools around to do it yourself. You like things to be done right on your car and I would rather get a bodyshop to do it as you don't want any damage to the paintwork.

well thats it... who do you trust these days most places or people doing it will be used to doing more newer cars like audis bmws etc the old sierra arches arnt that easy to roll and if there get it wrong it can go into mega work putting it right after...
id rather do my own if u make a mess its your fault lol but im sure there will be fine just going easy and taking your time
Hi Richard, your rite I do but its like most things now.....who can you trust and even then will it be a good job?
Made my mind up I'm going for it !!
Hi Mark I can see your point on who will do the job properly. There are some good videos on you-tube showing how to use the arch roller and I will be using the tool soon on the Subaru.Take your time with it and I am sure you will get it done. It is only the front arches that need doing so you dont have to worry about the double skinned rear ones.
Hi Mark, looks like you have figured it out with the arch rolling tool. Should give you confidence that you won't get any problems with the tyres hitting the arch. Well done! Richard.
