Default Ford Sierra Early MK2 Sunroof fitting

Hi Guys. I need some help. I’ve been stung by someone who’s resprayed the car and lost most of the bits to put it back together including the sunroof.

I bought a new sunroof and frame but I can’t understand why the gear wheel doesn’t protrude further into the car and why it doesn’t sit in the centre of the hole. I can’t get the sunroof handle on at all the way it is. All the other frame holes line up. Just the very front plastic part doesn’t want to fit properly.

In my opinion the front of the plastic frame needs to tilt as it’s deeper at the front 17mm (ish) and 8mm at the back as seen in the photo.

The frame doesn’t look like it’s designed that way. It’s more or less flat, which is why the spigot comes through vertically instead of at the angle it should.

Is there a spacer or something between the handle and sunroof frame? The part number on the frame is 85GG A502A10 AA. The number is located ok the underside next to the handle spigot. Is this definitely for an early Mk2 E reg? It’s got 16 splines as did the old one. Any help appreciated. I’m at my wits end!

Also as I’m new to this forum, how do I add pictures? Just comes up with 26% uploaded and then grinds to a halt.

when i took mine out i had similar issues putting it back in. if the handle has been turned while the mechanism has been out it might be a bit cock eyed, my spline wouldnt go through properly either it was sumut to do with the bolts or nuts that secured the gear box id got them upside or sumut it was five year ago but knowing mine came out of the car i just persisted with it and sust it, try ringing ford and compare part numbers
