Hi, i've now had my Ford Escort MK4 1,3CL for some time now. It's a good reliable car, but it lacks power and a decent milage. For youse that don't know, it's carbureted so it doesn't have the necessary wiring for a conversion. It has the 5 speed gearbox.

I've been looking at some engines and it can be quite confusing sometimes with so many options. I've narrowed my list into the things i need, but im not sure of the rest. So a parts list and a simple guide is all im seeking.

I know i need a 1,8 zetec preferably from an escort since it has the right oil sump. I dont really know if i need to get a different gearbox, maybe a 5 speed 1,8 zetec or 1,6 CVH. What about the engine mounts? What sort of wiring harness do i need i terms of the ecu and so on.

Basically help me, im fooking confused.
